Role We are looking for a Staff Software Development Engineer, Nanolog to join our team. This is a Hybrid (San Jose, 3 days in office) role, reporting to the Sr. Director, Software Engineering in the Zero Trust Exchange department. You will play a critical role in the evolution of the Zscaler Nanolog Service, driving the design and optimization of our proprietary time series database. By identifying system bottlenecks and implementing kernel-level enhancements, you will ensure our platform continues to deliver high-performance, scalable security solutions for our global customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining the Query layer using Java, Python or Go within a Kubernetes environment
  • Designing, implementing, and deploying Kubernetes clusters that are scalable and reliable
  • Developing monitoring systems and deploy services in the cloud
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Kubernetes clusters, containers, and microservices
  • Contributing to the overall reliability, scalability, and security of applications in cloud-native environments

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with Programming languages like Java, Python, or Golang
  • 3+ years of experience in Kubernetes, Docker, and Kafka
  • 2+ years of public cloud experience (AWS,GCP, or Azure)
  • Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in continuous monitoring, vulnerability scanning, patching, and reporting
  • Experience with multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and both relational and non-relational databases for microservices
