The Michigan Emergency Department Improvement Collaborative (MEDIC, http://www.medicqi.org/) is a statewide quality improvement effort funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan/Blue Care Network (BCBSM/ BCN) with the Coordinating Center housed at the University of Michigan. MEDIC's vision is to support emergency physicians working together to improve patient care. MEDIC is part of a family of projects called Collaborative Quality Initiatives (CQIs) within the Value Partnerships program (http://www.valuepartnerships.com/), making health care work better across the state of Michigan. MEDIC focuses on care decisions made in the emergency department and beyond for children and adults. Working collaboratively with a network of partner hospitals, we leverage the shared knowledge and experience of participating sites combined with timely feedback on performance on quality measures to improve the care of our patients through dissemination and implementation of best practices. There are currently over 60 hospitals in the Collaborative with plans to continue expansion annually supported by an infrastructure of a clinical data registry hosted by a third-party vendor. We are seeking a Clinical Information Analyst Senior who will assist in the management of the data collection and data quality assurance process for participating hospitals, including oversight and training of each site's Data Abstractor. This work will also require collaborating with the data registry subcontractor to ensure that participating sites are reporting data in an accurate and timely manner as specified by the MEDIC Coordinating Center, the Clinical Info Analyst Lead and registry subcontractor. This position will be primarily remote with some required in person work. Responsibilities* • Assist in overseeing data quality assurance for all participating sites

  • Assist/lead with training sessions to ensure all participating hospital Data Abstractors are educated in all aspects of MEDIC data collection and quality assurance
  • Provide training (initial and ongoing) to Data Abstractors on program requirements
  • Facilitate engagement by Data Abstractors to maintain and improve data collection activities
  • Conduct Audit Site Visits or remote auditing at participating sites to evaluate adherence to data collection procedures and standards, providing timely and informative/constructive feedback to sites based on results of Audit Site or Remote Visits
  • Communicate issues of data validity or data collection to the Clinical Info Analyst Lead, including coordinating problem resolution
  • Contribute to communication with Data Abstractors, responding to questions regarding data variables and definitions and assuring that data collection concerns are addressed in a timely and consistent manner
  • Collaborate with MEDIC leadership to consider and develop pedagogically sound educational materials for use in MEDIC participating hospitals
  • Assist in collaborating with the data registry subcontractor in the ongoing design of the data registry, updating of the data dictionary, identifying MEDIC data abstraction needs, and planning for implementation of MEDIC's quality improvement program
  • Assist the MEDIC project team in measure development, protocol assessment and review, and data analysis policies and procedures
  • Assist the Clinical Info Analyst Lead and other Coordinating Center staff with implementation of quality improvement initiatives and other Coordinating Center activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications* • Bachelor's degree in a recognized field which is directly related to the duties of the position and at least 5 years of experience with chart abstraction, chart review, chart audits, and/or quality reporting or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with (EHR) systems such as Epic and Cerner
  • Prior experience with chart abstraction training or clinical teaching
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and some database experience
  • Successful experience in collaboration with others in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to successfully work with all levels of faculty and staff
  • Ability to travel as needed within the state of Michigan

Desired Qualifications* • Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing degree or related clinical field such as Physician Assistant

  • Experience in facilitating quality improvement projects
  • LEAN or Six Sigma training
  • Experience collaborating with and/or educating emergency medical providers
  • Experience in program development at a large academic medical center
