COMMERCIAL TITLE UNDERWRITING COUNSEL ATTORNEY (HYBRID) NATIONAL COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE TITLE OPERATIONS Location: Tampa, FL (HYBRID) or REMOTE US for strong candidates approved for Remote in one of the following 10 states: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, DC, New York, I llinois, Minnesota, and California PLEASE NOTE THIS IS FOR TITLE INSURANCE, NOT PROPERTY, RISK, ETC. INSURANCE! Our client, a national leader in commercial title and escrow services, is seeking a Commercial Underwriting Counsel to provide underwriting guidance and support on complex real estate transactions. This role is ideal for a commercial real estate attorney or experienced title underwriter who enjoys applying legal analysis to real estate matters, solving problems in real time, and partnering with internal teams and clients to deliver best-in-class service. The successful candidate will bring strong judgment, customer-centric communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse pipeline of commercial transactions while applying underwriting standards and company guidelines. Candidate Profile JD from an ABA-accredited law school required Active Bar Admission in FLORIDA or the state of residence, if REMOTE, in good standing 5-7 years of substantive experience in title insurance underwriting or comparable commercial real estate experience in a law firm setting Strong knowledge of commercial real estate law, including federal and Florida (OR State of residence) state regulations. Proven ability to interpret and apply underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits Solid understanding of commercial real estate transactions, title insurance and commercial real estate closing settlement processes, and applicable federal and state regulations Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and clients Strong analytical, negotiation, and business acumen Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and manage significant transaction volume Effective verbal and written communicator who can deliver guidance with clarity, professionalism, and diplomacy Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and provide practical solutions Collaborative mindset with ability to act decisively when needed Creative, solution-oriented approach to resolving complex title challenges Ability to work hybrid 3 days a week into Tampa-metro area based office (other than strong candidates approved for remote ) What Youll Do Provide underwriting support and counsel on the issuance of title commitments and policies Interpret and apply underwriting standards within delegated authority Advise colleagues on real estate settlement procedures and requirements Support resolution of title issues and guide transaction strategy Communicate underwriting decisions to internal teams and external partners Ensure compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and process improvement Why Join Us?
