Title: Release Train Engineer/Scrum Master Location: 100% Remote Duration: 2 years with the possibility of an extension Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. Looking for a Certified SAFe Agile Release Train Engineer (RTE) to assist our client with a large data transformation initiative that involves working with cutting edge technology, AI, and new processes. This RTE/Scrum Master will be supporting 14 Agile teams for a 30 million dollar program. They will serve as an Agile Coach to guide various businesses and teams through ta data transformation process. This RTE will look at the dependencies, scheduling and planning out the releases, making sure all teams have standard communications, doing release readiness to ensure teams are all ready for production. Primary duties will include Release Management Duties:

  • Work with 3rd party vendors and internal team members on managing release and coordinating with other teams, during the release.
  • Focus on IT Cross team coordination, release management and dependency tracking.
  • Coordinate the program scheduling, planning, and controlling of the release management lifecycle and delivery process between teams.
  • Plan the release of program deliverables and release life cycle.
  • Schedule, coordinate between teams and deployment of release per the schedule.
  • Define the strategic usage of release management tools.
  • Identify risks that can delay the release and manage them, such that the scope scheduled, and quality of the release is not affected.
  • Schedule the release readiness reviews/Go/No Go before deployment.
  • Create plans for the implementation and deployment as per the release schedule.
  • Communicate with release managers from different IT departments.
  • Maintain documentation related to procedures on build and release, various notifications lists and dependencies.

Scrum Master Duties:

  • Promote team health, agility, and delivery excellence through continuous improvement and coaching.
  • Foster self-organization, ownership, accountability, and strong team dynamics.
  • Provide agile coaching to assigned teams and support agile maturity across the organization.
  • Lead Scrum ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Refinement, Review, Retrospective), ensuring process integrity, efficiency, and timeboxing.
  • Ask critical questions that challenge assumptions and continuously evolve agile practices.
  • Facilitate execution and feature completion tracking for scrum teams.
  • Manage team capacity and support reliable forecasting for predictable sprint and program delivery.
  • Take accountability for sprint success by proactively identifying, removing, or escalating blockers.
  • Hold teams accountable to performance expectations, team agreements, and agile best practices.
  • Help manage delivery risks, dependencies, and impediments at the team and cross-team level.
  • Partner with product management, product owners, business owners, engineering leads, and project managers to ensure execution alignment.
  • Build strong, collaborative stakeholder relationships that promote transparency and shared ownership.
  • Coordinate cross-team and enterprise-wide dependencies to minimize delivery risk.
  • Facilitate feedback loops and alignment through agile ceremonies and structured checkpoints.
  • Create, modify, publish, and leverage standardized agile metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown, workflow health) to drive transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting for team and leadership visibility.
  • Maintain a single source of truth for delivery tracking, metrics, and documentation.

Required Skills and Expertise:

  • Certified SAFe Agile Release Train Engineer preferred
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) preferred
  • 5 years of experience serving as a Release Train Engineer with previous experience serving as a Scrum Master
  • Proven ability to manage Performance Improvement Planning Management (PIP)
  • Strong expertise in of Release Management
  • Skilled in coaching and training
  • Proven experience in managing multiple Scrum teams
  • Must be well versed in the following areas:
  • Facilitating Scrum ceremonies daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospective
  • Leading PI Planning and Scrum of Scrums (SoS) to align teams.
