Senior Associate General Counsel, LRC

The Senior Associate General Counsel supports complex regulatory products within multiple business lines within Ascensus, is a subject matter expert and provides legal counsel to executives and business leaders. Key job responsibilities include depth of knowledge in the relevant area of law; negotiating and drafting complex contracts or plan documents; autonomously managing their workload; supporting day-to-day legal matters; and mentoring junior legal associates while demonstrating sound legal and business. Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide advice and counsel to business leaders on legal, regulatory, legislative, compliance, and business issues Draft, negotiate, review, and interpret various contracts and other legal documents between Ascensus and its clients, partners, vendors, and other third parties Manage and resolve disputes, including overseeing outside counsel Handle other day-to-day legal issues arising in a growing and complex business including employment, intellectual property, and corporate governance Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients. Supervision N/A Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.S. law school with at least 15 years of experience Licensed to practice law in at least one state and in good standing Experience in the financial services and familiarity with ERISA and U.S. data privacy laws is strongly preferred Law firm (preferably transactional practice) and in-house experience is a plus Desire to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment Ability to travel occasionally is required Understand Ascensus’ businesses and give practical advice to business leaders Think and act strategically Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with business leaders, clients, prospects, business partners, and others Exhibit adaptability and lead change Think creatively, solve problems effectively, and act decisively Work effectively independently with minimal instruction, and as part of a team with the willingness and desire to collaborate Be organized, proactive and entrepreneurial Multitask and prioritize while producing high-quality, on-time work For all virtual remote positions, in order to ensure associates can effectively perform their job duties with no distractions, we require an uninterrupted virtual workspace and there is also an expectation of family care being in place during business hours.
