Underwriter I, Commercial Lines - Nordic

Intact is a company that supports the mission of Facility Association by providing auto insurance to customers who do not meet the criteria of the voluntary auto insurance market. They are seeking a Commercial Lines Underwriter I to deliver results that support service objectives while ensuring compliance with Facility Association rules and rates.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to brokers as they quote and bind a wide range of risks which cannot be placed in the voluntary market
• Underwrite and rate New Business, Endorsements, Renewals, and Cancellations in accordance with Facility Association rules
• Support broker inquiries in a telephone queue environment
• Collaborate with claims partners to support after-loss underwriting
• Effectively manage competing priorities, delivering consistent productivity in a service-driven environment
• Clearly and effectively communicate business requirements, dependencies, and outcomes
• Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency
• Analyze trends and provide feedback to strengthen business objectives
• Maintain a thorough understanding of all relevant CL underwriting guides and best practices
• Support a team-driven environment, contributing technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to colleagues

Skills

• At least 1 year of experience as an Underwriter or Underwriting Assistant, OR at least 3 years of experience in the insurance industry required
• Skilled communicator who can adapt your approach for your audience
• Enthusiastic and curious learner who works well in a team environment and independently
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and assess complex risks
• Takes initiative and able to work effectively under pressure
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Knowledge of, or exposure to Facility Association is a plus, and candidates with this experience will be prioritized
• Experience working with IRCA and/or Public insurance policies is preferred
• University Degree or College Diploma preferred
• Completion of/progress toward the CIP designation is an asset
