Tax and Accounting Associate
Lockheed Martin is a leader in the space industry, committed to innovation and security. They are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax and Accounting Associate to support tax, month end close, and general accounting activities while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare long range plan, quarterly and annual tax schedules in support of federal, state and tax credits (R&D)
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal control policies; document controls and assist with internal audits
- Coordinate with external auditors, HR, and other internal stakeholders to provide required documentation
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy of workflows
- Assist with month end and quarter end close activities, including preparation of journal entries and accruals
- Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts (cash, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, etc.) and ensure discrepancies are investigated and resolved
- Prepare and analyze management reports (e.g., profit and loss summaries, budget vs. actual) and provide insights to finance leadership
Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree
- 1+ years of experience in tax or accounting
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities
- High level of accuracy, attention to details and ability to work with a team
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with peers, customers, and managers
- Accounting degree
- Familiarity with Lockheed Martin policies and procedures (or willingness to learn quickly)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas)
- Prior experience with SAP (or other ERP systems)
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and quantitative skills; high attention to detail
- Demonstrated teamwork and the ability to take direction while also working independently
- Knowledge of internal controls, risk management practices, and basic SOX compliance
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field
- 2+ years of related accounting experiences
