Architectural Associate

Flad Architects is a national architectural firm with ten offices across the country, specializing in the Science & Technology, Higher Education, and Developer markets. The Architectural Associate will be responsible for preparing presentation materials, developing design solutions, and participating in design discussions while collaborating with team members to meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing presentation materials such as conceptual drawings, 3D renderings and visualization, and digital 3D and physical models
  • Develop and modify design and technical solutions throughout all phases of a project
  • Participate and contribute to design discussions, idea generation, and design work in drawing, model and 3D image formats
  • Work closely with team members and assist to complete projects on aggressive schedules by meeting deadlines within expected time and budget constraints
  • Generate revisions and corrections from outline mock-ups, redlined drawings and project document sets
  • Attend client meetings to observe the overall process and develop presentation skills
  • Participate in construction site visits to better understand the construction process
  • Begin to recognize and document conflicts that arise during construction and offer alternatives to resolve these issues

Skills

  • Minimum of one year of recent and relevant architectural experience required
  • Portfolio that demonstrates a high level of skill in design thinking and presentation media required
  • Proficiency in Rhino or SketchUp, and 3D rendering software required
  • Beginner Revit knowledge required; have at least one year of recent Revit experience in an academic or professional setting. Understands how Revit works, but may not have completed a project from start to finish. Has made edits to existing drawings, models, etc
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in architecture required
  • Intermediate Revit knowledge preferred
  • Experience with real-time rendering engines (e.g., Enscape, Twin Motion, etc.) to generate still animations and renderings, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), visual scripting programs (e.g., Grasshopper and Dynamo), Adobe Creative Suite, and AutoCAD preferred
  • NAAB-accredited professional degree or Master's degree in architecture preferred
  • Sustainability accreditation preferred
