Why This Role Matters

As a Remote Part‑Time Sports Statistics Analyst, you will be the backbone of arenaflex’s data ecosystem. Your meticulous attention to detail ensures that every score, play, and statistic is accurate, timely, and ready for consumption by our production teams, digital editors, and broadcast partners. This is more than data entry—it’s the foundation of the stories that fans trust and love.

Position Overview

The Statistics Analyst I role sits within arenaflex’s Data & Insights department. You will work with automated data feeds, manual data entry tools, and collaborative workflows to guarantee that sports information across all arenaflex platforms—television broadcasts, the arenaflex website, mobile apps, and social channels—is flawless. You will also partner with editorial teams to help transform raw data into engaging storylines that explain why a team won, why a player excelled, and what the numbers mean for the broader narrative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Accuracy & Timeliness: Verify that scores, statistics, standings, and player information are entered correctly and delivered within tight broadcast windows.
  • Collaborative Production Support: Work both independently and as part of cross‑functional teams to provide live data for a variety of arenaflex products, including TV shows, digital articles, and live‑stream graphics.
  • Process Documentation: Create and maintain clear documentation of data workflows, ensuring that future analysts can replicate and improve upon existing processes.
  • Quality Assurance: Review your own work and that of peers, applying a consistently high standard of quality control.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Identify recurring challenges, propose solutions, and actively participate in process‑enhancement initiatives.
  • Team Communication: Communicate effectively—both verbally and in writing—with production managers, editors, and technical staff, often in a fast‑paced newsroom environment.
  • Feedback Integration: Seek, receive, and act on feedback to continuously refine personal performance and overall data delivery.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up‑to‑date with industry best practices, emerging data technologies, and evolving sports analytics trends.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to align with live sports schedules.
  • Strong grasp of sports rules, team structures, and statistical categories across major leagues.
  • Proven capacity to learn and adapt quickly to new data entry systems and automated feed integrations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to maintain high accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating data issues clearly amid a bustling newsroom.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year experience in sports data, analytics, or a related media environment.
  • Familiarity with how sports data is leveraged for storytelling, research, and audience engagement.
  • Experience using arenaflex’s proprietary data management tools and content management systems.
  • Proficiency with arenaflex spreadsheet suite (formerly Microsoft Excel) and other arenaflex Office applications.
  • Leadership experience, such as mentoring junior analysts or coordinating small project teams.
  • Fluency in Spanish—both spoken and written—to support multilingual content production.
  • Background in virtual entertainment or digital newsrooms, demonstrating adaptability to fast‑changing environments.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret raw numbers and recognize patterns that inform compelling narratives.
  • Technical Agility: Comfort with data feeds, APIs, and basic scripting (e.g., SQL) to troubleshoot feed discrepancies.
  • Time Management: Skillful prioritization to meet multiple simultaneous deadlines during live events.
  • Collaboration: Strong teamwork orientation, contributing positively to group meetings and cross‑departmental initiatives.
  • Problem‑Solving: Proactive identification of potential data issues and swift implementation of corrective actions.
  • Communication: Clear, concise, and confident communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
